Canon PowerShot S2 IS

 Canon PowerShot S2

Considered as one of the best deals for 2005, Canon PowerShot S2 IS has a 12x zoom lens and image stabilization, while when the camera is set on movie mode it can record with stereo sound. However, the controls are rather confusing and the flash is manually operated.Compared to S1, the new PowerShot S2 has a larger LCD screen and an improved DIGIC II processor that speeds up operations. Of course, the camera takes sharp images, a quality all Canon cameras are known for.

The digital camera is made mainly of plastic and the shutter button is placed on the grip while the zoom is placed within easy reach. The focal length is between 36-432 mm and the maximum aperture is f2.7. On the top of the camera there are: the power on and playback switch, a manually operated flash and a mode dial. Near the electronic viewfinder there is the button to start move clips recording. However, the user guide is so strangely written that you will need a lot of time and nerves to learn to do something with the camera as both the buttons and the instructions are really confusing.

The camera offers scene modes such as the traditional Portrait and Landscape, as well as Fireworks, Beach, Night Snaphot and many more. You can change the exposure compensation, flash out, ISO and many more.

The camera comes with a 16MB SD card. It also contains a lens cap with cord, AV and USB cables, a strap, two manuals (one for printing and one for camera), A4 Batteries (4) and a CD-ROM containing software.

All in all, the camera offers a nice range of focal lengths, natural images, great movies with stereo sound, but also a very confusing user manual and no RAW or TIFF optio
